The Traditional and the Modern

The Traditional and the Modern

The scene here is Brunel's famous railway cutting in Sydney Gardens in Bath. A pair of GWR Class 800 sets heads westwards towards Bath Spa station. These were forming 1C17, the London Paddington (1400hrs) to Bristol Temple Meads service. This is a classic location, now marred by a wooden fence, but at least it has been spared the desecration of overhead electric infrastructure.
