At the Crossing of the Ways

At the Crossing of the Ways

Two canals, the M5 Motorway and the West Coast Mainline intersect at Oldbury in the West Midlands. A Class 390 'Pendolino' of Virgin Trains West Coast passes through on the morning of Sunday 13 May 2018. The train was 5S50, an empty coaching stock movement from Oxley Traincare Depot in Wolverhampton to Birmingham New Street. The waterways are the Birmingham Canal (Old Main Line) carried by the Stewart Aqueduct, built by Thomas Telford, and the lower navigation is the Birmingham Canal (New Main Line), dating from 1828.
