A New Look at Flax Bourton

A New Look at Flax Bourton

On the afternoon of Saturday 16 April 2022, GWR Class 166 DMU no. 166204 heads down the line at Flax Bourton in North Somerset. This train formed 2Y33, the Avonmouth (1346hrs) to Weston-super-Mare service. The lineside at this location has recently undergone significant tree and brush clearance. In this view the down side bank has been stabilized by the use of wire mesh netting to prevent debris falling onto the track. As a result the view of the line here has been considerably improved, with more light reaching the track and tunnel portal. This should be beneficial for photographers when the steam charters to the South West resume later this month.
