A Further Update from Flax Bourton

A Further Update from Flax Bourton

Following on from my recent image of Flax Bourton tunnel, here we see GWR Class 166 DMU no. 166215 heading down the line on the morning of Tuesday 19 April 2022. This train formed 2Y19, the Avonmouth (1046hrs) to Weston-super-Mare service. It is seen passing the site of the former Flax Bourton station, which closed to passengers in December 1963. This view has been opened up as a result of recent lineside tree and brush clearance work. The view of the former fuel depot, located immediately behind me in this image, should soon benefit from similar treatment. The Union Footbridge can just be seen where the track disappears, this giving a good view of the down end of the tunnel.
