"It's all happening at Pilning"

"It's all happening at Pilning"

Here's a busy scene on the gradient running from the Severn Tunnel to Pilning station, near Bristol. As far as the infrastructure is concerned, the posts for the impending overhead electrics have reached this far west. The footbridge at the station has been removed, which is a great loss to railway photographers. As regards the trains, in the down loop sits 6B33, the Theale Murco to Margam petroleum tanks, behind DB Cargo Class 60 diesel no. 60091. In the up loop sits 6W07, a civil engineers train running between Cardiff and Bescot Up Engineers Sidings. This was being hauled by DB Cargo Class 66 diesel no. 66129. Running up the gradient between these two is 1L66, a First Great Western Class 43 service from Swansea to London Paddington.
