At 1238hrs on Wednesday 18 October 2023, Freightliner loco no. 66606 approaches Shippea Hill station in Suffolk, operating as 0Z68, the Brandon Down Goods Loop (1212 hrs) return working. Shippea Hill is one of the least used stations in the country. There seems to be nothing there, not even a hill!
The standard image of this station incorporates the former signal box on the down platform. I wanted a different view, and so tried to emphasise the open space. This image has been toned to give it a somewhat ghostly feel, which I felt was appropriate for this depopulated location.
