Old Box, New Train

Old Box, New Train

At 0730hrs on the morning of Friday 27 August 2021 a Class 800 set of Great Western Railway (800022 in the lead) passes over Puxton and Worle level crossing in Weston-super-Mare. This train was 1A09, the Taunton (0655 hrs) to London Paddington service. This is an interesting location. There was a station here from 1841 to 1964. A new station opened at Worle, a short distance down the line, in 1990. The building that now houses Weston Recovery was formerly a creamery that had its own private rail siding. The crossing box is still operational, covering this crossing and that at Hewish, a couple of miles up the line.
