Before I get bogged down in trying to explain the concept of 'Edgelands', I should state that this is an LNER Class 800 'Azuma' set heading towards Leeds station, at Copley Hill on the morning of Thursday 09 November 2023. It was 5A15, the Doncaster IEP (0726 hrs) to Leeds ECS move.

The concept of the 'Edgelands' has been defined as: "...the study of the precise laws and specific effects of the geographical environment, consciously organized or not, on the emotions and behavior of individuals." Suffice to say that here that manifested itself in the detritus of stimulant and drug abuse, which littered the immediate surroundings. Fortunately it seemed a relatively safe space at such an early hour in the morning.
