Late Autumn Light at Athelney

Late Autumn Light at Athelney

This scene is at Athelney Crossing on the Somerset Levels, a short distance up the line between Castle Cary and Taunton. The railway crosses the River Tone at this point. Captured here is a Class 800 series set of Great Western Railway that formed 1C82, the London Paddington (1303 hrs) service to Plymouth on Wednesday 04 December 2019. This was photographed looking directly into the low afternoon light. The building on the right is the Currymoor Pumping Station, part of the flood control infrastructure operated by the Environment Agency in this area.
