Major Works at Langport
This is a view of the Taunton to Castle Cary line at Langport on the Somerset Levels. The bridge carries the line over the River Parrett. Network Rail has undertaken major work here to prevent subsidence of the embankments. Whilst it has destroyed the rustic charm of this location, for now at least, it has opened up the line for photography. In this scene a Class 802 set, 802113 in the lead, heads up the line, catching the low evening sunlight on the northern side of the embankment. It formed 1A96, the GWR Penzance (1620 hrs) to London Paddington service on Saturday 11 July 2020.
