Now here is an interesting scene. This is the down end portal of the short tunnel at Flax Bourton in North Somerset. The train is 1V50, the Edinburgh (0606hrs) to Plymouth service of Cross Country Trains, seen at 1249hrs on Monday 30 May 2022. It comprised Class 43 units nos. 43239 leading and 43304, with seven coaches. The embankment above the track has recently been cleared of trees and retaining mesh is being installed to prevent debris falling onto the track. The track crew are working on ropes and the two at the top are using a drill to install retaining clips. There are two workers out of view, sandwiched between the bottom of the embankment and the passing train!
