A view from the M5 Avonmouth Bridge of one of the newest stations on the national rail network. Portway Park & Ride opened in the summer of 2023. It is located midway between Shirehampton and Avonmouth stations on the Severn Beach Line in Bristol. The station incorporates flood defence features, notably the earthwork on the right of this image, as the River Avon is located about 50 metres to the right of this scene.
On the afternoon of Friday 26 January 2024, GWR DMU no. 165137 departs towards Avonmouth station. This train was 2K36, the Bristol Temple Meads (1412 hrs) to Severn Beach service.
